The inspiration for Dragon Theater comes from a Sichuan opera troupe in Chongqing. Unable to afford high rent, the troupe set up their theater in a garage. Next to the garage was a small river, and nearby was a Dragon King Temple. One year, during a heavy rainstorm in Chongqing, the river's water level rose, flooding the garage and washing away the theater. Dragon Theater is a design, a model, a whimsical exploration of Chongqing, everyday architecture, and local folklore.
