Becoming a Monument showcases the appearance of three social housing buildings from the first generation in China, built in the 1950s, after 70 years of use. The rapid urbanization process has led to these three buildings, located in the same area and serving the same function, exhibiting distinctly different states of use. Through linear juxtaposition, the work presents the transformation of these buildings over time, highlighting shifts between practicality and monumentality, as well as materiality and spirituality.
